Below is an example of what a standard server room relocation may involve.
- Consult with all relevant individuals involved with your server room relocation and insure that all requirements are met.
- Inspect the new location wiring, power, test all drops and verify the timing of connectivity.
- Document your equipment every rack, server, switch, and component will be inventoried and documented.
- A document will be created and provided to you for review and to insure that all components have been accounted for at origin.
- Another document will be created to show configuration at destination location and to insure that you are satisfied with new arrangement.
- On the day of the relocation after the servers have been taken down. Servers/all components/cables will be labeled for destination reassembly order. Digital photos will be taken of all components for reference. Then all components will be unracked and bubble wrapped. Then components will be placed on computer carts and secured, then wrapped to minimize vibration and or movement. Racks will be disassembles and unmounted from flooring.
- Servers that need to be reassembled first will be communicated to the moving company. Move order is essential with your server room, the communication with your moving company is key to a successful transition. We will discuss the relocation and also share documents to insure that all parties involved are on the same page.
- Reassembly of the server room will follow the documentation. All components are set back up as specified then powered up and tested. We are there every step of the way.
